Just about every business in our community is responding to COVID-19 in their own unique ways. What are some of your favorite examples from the 757 community?

One of my favorite examples is this ODU Professor (who happens to be a close friend of mine and my prom date! Talk about a Flashback Friday!) and her husband who are making masks out of their homes to help in this fight:  https://www.odu.edu/news/2020/3/face_shields#.XocyGdNKhTY

I'm loving the innovation and creative-thinking that led to some of our distilleries transitioning to making hand sanitizer-- so clever!

Here's an article from the Pilot listing a few local businesses who have stepped up and shifted operations: https://www.pilotonline.com/food-drink/vp-db-distilleries-hand-sanitzer-0326-20200326-avlqtamurzap7bpdj3welcwda4-story.html

The creativity and innovation happening everywhere is so encouraging. Here's an example from our neighbors in North Carolina. NASCAR's research and development team is using their 3D printing technology to help fill a need for personal protective equipment in the Charlotte region and beyond. https://www.charlotteobserver.com/sports/nascar-auto-racing/article241688651.html

I think the brands that have not gone too off path. I get it, we are going through "unprecedented (most overused word of 2020) times", but that does not mean that company should simply go waaay off-brand and off script during this. Why? Well, what happens if all a company posts about and markets around is a crisis and then when "crisis" is over those who started following along have/had no idea that the company actually sold LMNOP product/service. I am not saying do not post about what's being talked about, yes you can chime in. But, too many brands are ONLY talking about "crisis" instead of continuing to build off of what they established.

By the way, I use "crisis" because come hurricane season you will see the exact same strategies deploy on businesses. "Let's jump on board with what everyone is talking about! That's how we will be recognized."
